Objectives of the political & committee work List of all committees in which ZSL is represented

Our political and committee work continues to represent the interests of Equality, self-determination and full social participation of people with disabilities and chronic illnesses and consistently against any form of discrimination in.

Goals are included:

  • Secure and expand rights: Influence framework conditions in such a way that self-determined life in the community is actually possible - especially where social developments jeopardize participation and the right to life.

 

  • Addressing politics and the public effectively: Bringing concerns from consulting and practice to committees, working groups and decision-makers in order to initiate concrete improvements.

 

  • Strengthen self-representation: Management, external representation and decision-making authority lie primarily with people with disabilities; peer counseling remains the professional foundation.

 

  • Act independently and non-partisan: independent of party politics and denomination, professionally sound and oriented towards the common good.

 

In terms of content, the committee work focuses on topics that directly enable self-determination: Personal assistance, Barrier-free structures, Participation in education and work and the sustainable improvement of support and care conditions.

1) Sustainability Council (City of Erlangen)

The Sustainability Advisory Board advises the city administration and city council on sustainability issues, formulates recommendations and supports the communication of sustainability in urban society. ZSL contributes the perspective of people with disabilities and focuses on Sustainability includedAccessible mobility, accessible participation formats, inclusive crisis and heat protection thinking and accessibility as a quality criterion for municipal sustainability measures.

2) Council for Social Justice (Erlangen)

The Council sees itself as an advisory and coordination group of socio-politically active organizations with the aim of improving social justice at a local level; key topics include. Work and Living. The ZSL is committed to socially equitable participation barrier-free and affordable housing, an inclusive working environment, non-discriminatory administrative processes and the consistent consideration of disabled people in municipal social policy.

3) Senior Citizens' Advisory Council (City of Erlangen)

The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council advises the city council and administration on all matters relating to senior citizens and can submit its own proposals, suggestions and opinions. The ZSL focuses on intersections between Age, disability and careBarrier-free living in the neighborhood, accessible health and support structures, mobility as well as participation and protection concepts that also reach people with disabilities in old age. 4) Social and Health Committee / Works Committee EJC (City of Erlangen)

The committee deals with social and health policy issues (including the EJC works committee). The ZSL is a non-voting member and contributes positions to a joint civil society position via the Social and EJC Advisory Board, which is then reflected in the committee's work. 5) Working group „Barrier-free togetherness“ (district of Erlangen-Höchstadt)

The ArGe advocates for the interests of people with disabilities in the district, aims to improve participation and break down barriers; its members include municipal disability officers, people with and without disabilities, self-help organizations and social associations. The ZSL contributes expertise from self-representation and advice, supports the Further development of municipal accessibility standards and drives the removal of concrete access barriers in everyday life, administration and public spaces.

6) Bamberger Arbeitsgemeinschaft chronisch kranker und behinderter Menschen e. V. (ARGE Bamberg)

The ARGE represents the interests of chronically ill and disabled people in the city and district of Bamberg, bundles self-help and associations and is the point of contact for politicians and authorities. The ZSL is involved in the regional exchange It coordinates positions on participation and accessibility issues and strengthens joint representation of interests across municipal boundaries.
